Silverfort

Silverfort puts multi-factor authentication and identity threat detection in front of systems that cannot normally take them, such as old servers, command-line tools and service accounts that authenticate against Active Directory.

Our take

Silverfort is worth a close look for enterprises with a large Active Directory estate, legacy systems that cannot take modern MFA, and service accounts nobody fully tracks. Smaller, cloud-only companies whose identity lives in a single modern provider will get less from it.

Protecting the authentication layer

Silverfort's platform connects to the identity infrastructure an enterprise already runs, such as Active Directory and cloud identity providers, and enforces controls at the authentication layer. The company lists multi-factor authentication, identity threat detection and response, identity security posture management and protection for privileged users and service accounts as core capabilities.1 Its central claim is that it can extend those controls to resources that usually cannot take them, including legacy systems, command-line tools and IT and OT infrastructure.1

A company that still authenticates factory systems, old file servers or scripts against Active Directory has few other ways to put MFA in front of them. Companies in that position are Silverfort's typical customers.

Packages and the marketplace price

Silverfort's pricing page says prices depend on the size of the organization and lists four packages, Core, Plus, Advanced and Enterprise, without dollar amounts. Premier support costs 10% of the license fee.6 Its AWS Marketplace listing gives one public figure: a 12-month contract priced on a single dimension, the number of employees in the organization, at $15,000 per unit, with 24-month and 36-month terms also offered.7 The listing says customers are counted by headcount, not by the number of identities or systems protected.7

Funding and acquisitions

Hed Kovetz, Yaron Kassner and Matan Fattal founded Silverfort in 2016; Globes reports that all three served in the Israeli 8200 cyber unit.2 In January 2024 the company raised a $116 million Series D led by Brighton Park Capital, bringing total funding to $222 million, and reported more than 100% year-over-year revenue growth.1 Globes put headcount at 280 people in 15 countries at the time.2 Reuters reported customers including Agoda, UPS and Samsonite, citing the company's website.3

Silverfort acquired cloud identity company Rezonate in November 20244 and, on April 28, 2026, announced the acquisition of Fabrix Security, a Tel Aviv startup building AI-driven authorization, saying most of the joint capabilities would arrive in the second half of 2026.5 The same announcement cites more than 1,000 customers.5 Its contact page now lists Plano, Texas, as its headquarters.8

Silverfort and JumpCloud

Silverfort competes with identity threat detection features from large identity and endpoint vendors, and with specialist identity security platforms. It covers legacy systems, command-line tools and service accounts that those tools do not. JumpCloud, another identity company, solves a different problem: it is a cloud directory and device management platform for organizations that want to retire or avoid on-premises Active Directory, while Silverfort assumes Active Directory will stay and protects it.

Where it adds less

Cloud-native companies with no on-premises directory, and small organizations that only need MFA for SaaS apps, are better served by their identity provider's own controls.

Where it helps

Silverfort has been a real win for us in that respect, their service account ringfencing especially

Prior place we had SilverFort across the entire environment which forced MFA. ... It’s annoying but hell, you’re secure.
