Our take

IRONSCALES is a strong pick for small and mid-size organizations, and the managed service providers who run their IT, that want inbox-level phishing detection, removal and simulation training in one tool. Large enterprises with a dedicated email security team will want a vendor with deeper enterprise references.

Detection and training in one product

IRONSCALES connects to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace by API and works at the mailbox level, looking for business email compromise, credential harvesting and account takeover, then pulling malicious messages out of every affected inbox.1 The company says it built mailbox-level anomaly detection in 2015 and that this approach still sits at the center of the platform.2 Phishing simulation and security awareness training are part of the product line, which lets a small IT team cover detection and user education with one vendor.13

A published starting price

IRONSCALES publishes a starting price. Its pricing page lists three business tiers, Email Essentials, Email Protect and Email Protect 360, and the page's own description says plans start at $3.11 per mailbox per month.3 The plan cards still route buyers to a quote, so $3.11 is the floor. At that rate, 200 mailboxes start at about $622 a month. Separate MSP packages add an email incident management service and account takeover protection.3

From Israel to Atlanta

The company was founded in Israel in 2014 by alumni of the Israel Defense Forces' Intelligence Technology unit and opened its Atlanta headquarters in 2017.2 Eyal Benishti is founder and CEO. In December 2021 it raised a $64 million Series C led by PSG, with K1 Investment Management and Jump Capital participating, when it served more than 5,000 organizations.4

In its 2025 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 announcement, the company reported 17,000 customers, 156% revenue growth over the measured three-year period and a fourth consecutive year on the list.5 Its about page cites more than 3,500 managed service provider partners.2

IRONSCALES next to Abnormal and Huntress

Abnormal AI also deploys by API without changing mail flow. IRONSCALES leans toward smaller organizations and the MSP channel, posts a starting price and includes simulation training, while Abnormal reports a larger enterprise base and far higher disclosed revenue. Huntress offers managed security awareness training as part of a wider managed security service; IRONSCALES is the closer fit when email threats are the main concern.

Organizations it suits less

Organizations that need a traditional gateway in the mail path for compliance reasons, and very large enterprises that want a long list of Fortune 500 references, may prefer a gateway vendor or a provider with more enterprise references.

Where it helps

Their anti-phishing platform is absolutely fantastic. The automated AI piece is amazing, and their technical support is fantastic.

Orion Trist, Systems Administrator at The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton CountyPeerSpot review, July 26, 2022

The biggest benefit is that we get fewer phishing and spam emails, so using IRONSCALES has made our environment much safer.

Ironscales is our go-to. Works wonderfully.

u/xanderrobar on r/mspReddit comment, July 13, 2026

We've switched to Ironscales and even though it doesn't have gateway like our prior vendor did, it just works.

u/RaNdomMSPPro on r/mspReddit comment, August 12, 2026

Where it falls short

We have had a few incidents where legitimate emails were getting blocked, and we had to manually remove those emails from quarantine.
